Privacy Policy of the Board of the UK Meher Baba Association Limited

Data Collection and Use:

1. The Meher Baba Association (MBA) collects, processes and retains data, both on paper and in electronic form, for use in its communications with members of the Association, followers of Meher Baba and those who may be interested in learning about Him, and for the purposes of maintaining and operating the Meher Baba Association properly and effectively.

2. The MBA takes its responsibilities in relation to data protection very seriously, and we are committed to ensuring that the rights of individuals are recognised and respected in relation to how we collect, hold and process personal information.

3. We collect data in a number of circumstances, such as when:
   
   

   • we receive a completed MBA membership form

   • someone enters their details on our website

   • someone sends us an email or provides us with their contact details

   • someone interacts with us online, including on social media channels such as Facebook

   • someone makes a donation to or through the MBA
     
     

4. We use the data we collect in a variety of ways:
   
   

   • to maintain full and accurate records of membership on our databases;

   • to process and keep track of donations made to the MBA or, through us, to India and elsewhere;

   • to process Gift Aid;

   • to process newsletter subscriptions using PayPal;

   • to contact individuals about matters relating to the Meher Baba Association, or the worldwide Baba community;

   • for sending out the Association’s newsletter and other relevant mailings;

   • to organise and publicise events and activities;

   • to disseminate information generally about Meher Baba, in accordance with our Mission Statement and our Articles of Association.
     
     

5. Our website, Facebook page etc. may contain links to other sites and servers. The MBA is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such websites.

6. When someone joins the MBA as a member, we will collect, hold and process personal information in order to ensure that their membership and their contact details are properly recorded, and in order to communicate with them as appropriate. Consent for us to hold any or all of this information can be withdrawn at any time.

7. We will aim to be clear and transparent about how we use personal information, and only use it for the purposes for which it has been obtained. We will also ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to maintain its security.

8. We will never sell or share anyone’s personal information with other organisations without that person’s explicit consent, and under no circumstances for any commercial marketing purposes. We may share data with third parties who are part of the international Baba community/family, if we believe that this is consistent with our Mission Statement and our role as the Meher Baba Association.

Individual’s Information Rights:

9. The MBA will only retain personal data for so long as it is required to meet the purposes set out in this privacy policy.

10. Each person has a number of rights in relation to their personal information and the opportunity to choose how it is used. They can:
    
    

    • Obtain copies of the personal information the Meher Baba Association holds about them;

    • Request that the Meher Baba Association corrects or update personal information we hold about them;

    • Ask that the Meher Baba Association erases their information or restricts the way in which we use it;
      
      

11. Everyone has the right at any time to opt-out of receiving communications from us. They also have the right to raise any
    issues or concerns directly with the Information Commissioner’s Office at https://ico.org.uk/

12. A copy of the MBA’s Data Privacy Notice will be sent to all those on the Association’s mailing list and, subsequently, to all new members and donors.
